ABOUT US – WHY WE ARE DIFFERENT

We are small by design and intend to stay that way.

We understand that the future success of Charter Bay depends entirely on our clients recommending us to others. With that understanding, there is nothing we won’t do to ensure that each homeowner is thrilled with the home we’ve built and comes away from the experience pleasantly surprised as to how smoothly the process went.

We believe you should receive the same level of professionalism and integrity from your building contractor as you do from other professionals in your life. We’ve made a commitment to provide every client with personalized service and individual attention. We promise to maintain a high level of professionalism and integrity, and provide unmatched quality and workmanship.

When we started Charter Bay, we made a conscious decision to become a “boutique” builder. Our goal has always been to provide better service than any other homebuilder in Tampa. We understand that the best way to accomplish that is to take on fewer clients and to be more selective in the types of projects we accept. This business model allows us to maintain a high level of personalized service and to provide each homeowner with the individual attention their special project deserves.

We are small by design, and intend to stay that way. We have no plans to become the “biggest” homebuilder in Tampa – just the best.

Throughout the entire process, from conception to completion, our clients receive regular, one-on-one consultations with Eric Stockland, the owner of Charter Bay. These meetings ensure a very high level of personalized service and make for a smooth and enjoyable building experience. In fact, many of our clients have become personal friends!

There are many good custom home builders in Tampa, but we wake up everyday with one mission in mind – to make the “Charter Bay Way” better than the rest.

The Things That Make The Difference

Eric Stockland started Charter Bay Home Builders in 2009. As the owner and founder, Eric has a passion for building and a desire to innovate that comes through in everything he does. Formerly, as Chief Operating Officer for Nohl Crest Homes, Eric managed a team of more than 60 employees who were responsible for all aspects of building 150 high-end homes each year throughout Tampa (Pinellas, Pasco, Hillsborough, Manatee, and Sarasota counties).

Prior to Nohl Crest, Eric was Vice President Project Manager for US Home. He joined US Home in 1999 as a Superintendent and began working in the field, managing numerous new home construction sites. From there, he worked his way up to VP Project Manger of the North Division, where he ran a large new home construction operation, building new homes throughout Pasco county.

Preceding his tenure with US Home, Eric owned and operated a residential remodeling and renovation company for five years.

With his extensive hands-on experience working in the field, and an impressive background spent leading teams of drafters, architects, designers and construction managers, Eric brings a distinct and unique perspective to his company.

We’ve all heard the horror stories – nightmare building and remodeling projects that take twice as long and cost twice as much as what the building contractor originally promised. The reason these builders fail to deliver their promises isn’t a lack of desire on their part – it’s a lack of organization and the absence of an effective system to help manage their processes.

At Charter Bay, we utilize a very advanced process management system to keep each project on schedule and on budget. This system ensures that every single activity we do is systematically performed from a checklist and every detail, no matter how small, is thoroughly documented.

In short, we don’t depend on memory or luck to ensure your project is a success. Memories fail and balls get dropped. Our systems make sure we never drop the ball. As one of our clients recently put it, “Once your project is “Eric-ized” there is no way it will not succeed.”

Open communication is probably one of the things our clients most appreciate about working with Charter Bay. We encourage our clients to call, email or text any time of the day, any day of the week, when they have questions or feedback regarding their project. We have an established policy to immediately respond to our clients, whether it’s 6am Tuesday morning, or 8pm Saturday night, because we know that steady collaboration and consistent communication are necessary to successfully complete large-scale building projects.

Our clients have complete access to the same online project management system our team uses to manage their building project. At anytime of the day, from anywhere in the world, our clients can log in to their project to see exactly what happened that day and what will happen the next. This means they are always up-to-date on the progress of their project and can hold us accountable. Clients also have full access to construction schedules, project-related messages, tasks, contract documents, photos, videos, etc.

This type of transparency ensures that our clients are never left guessing as to the progress of their project, which in turn leads to a better building experience.

The ongoing, clear communication between client and contractor are a key factor to a project's success, and Eric masters this with several on-line tools, as well as a genuine personal interest in your comfort and understanding of the project at all levels.
