Big milestones deserve a moment of celebration, and yesterday was one of those days. After 30 years of living in Pasco County and building custom homes in sought-after areas of Hillsborough County (Davis Islands, Parkland Estates, Steeplechase and more), we’re thrilled to have recently broken ground on our first custom home in Hernando County.

This modern French country home is set on a secluded 81-acre property in Brooksville, and marks an exciting expansion into Pasco and Hernando Counties— areas where we see a growing demand for luxury estate homes built on larger parcels of land. With our own home being located in Pasco County (Dade City), we are excited for the opportunity to build closer to home.

Documenting the Journey of a Custom Build

We plan to document the journey of this home and hope to share some of the things we think make us a different kind of custom home builder. After nearly 30 years of building homes, we understand that to successfully build a true custom home—one that has never been built by anyone else before—requires experience, planning and foresight. My wife Charity and I are firm believers in the concept of “seeing around corners” which means anticipating potential challenges before they become problems.

Building a large full-custom home is a complex and demanding process, with an infinite number of moving parts, and various people involved along the way. “Seeing around corners” is our shorthand way of reminding ourselves (and our subs and suppliers) to plan every detail, no matter how small. Alone, a missed detail may not seem like much, or just something that can be fixed later. Cumulatively, missed details can add up to big (and expensive) problems to fix down the road, which results in a less than enjoyable building process.

As we continue this new build, we will share updates and highlight examples of things we see hiding around those pesky corners. We’ll show you how we extensively use 3D rendering to help us literally see around corners and behind walls. We will offer a peek into some our construction methods and offer a glimpse into the systems we use to manage our projects. We will also share some of the fun features that go into our homes. Our aim is to offer a little insight into what we do as a custom home builder—sort of a behind-the-scenes look at what it actually takes to design and build a truly one-of-a-kind home. So stay tuned for more updates as bring this home to life!

If you’re thinking about building a luxury custom home in Hillsborough, Pasco or Hernando County, we’d love to hear about your vision. Whether you’re just starting to explore your options or ready to take the next step, let’s start a conversation!

Aerial View of Pouring the Foundation Slab – The first phases of construction are always exciting as plans finally start to become a reality. Our day started on site at 6:30am and by 10am the last of eleven concrete trucks finished delivering 110 yards of concrete for the slab. Here, a concrete boom truck extends over a small corner of the slab waiting for the last pour as our masons finish working the garage slab.
