Have you kissed your custom home builder lately? Better yet, have you kissed your neighbor’s custom home builder recently? Me neither, but I can now say that I – as a Tampa custom home builder – have been kissed by the neighbor of one of my clients!

So, how does this relate to getting smooched by a neighbor? Well, it turns out that the payoff for our effort has reached a new level – kisses from relative strangers. As we were finishing our last project we had a nice surprise. The next door neighbor very kindly bought and brought donuts over for us. This is not all that unusual as we always have good relationships with the neighbors next to our projects. In addition to our other activities, they see us walking the street and site each day picking up the tiniest pieces of debris, and appreciate our efforts. What was surprising this day was that upon handing me the donuts, she actually grabbed me by the arms, planted a kiss firmly on my right cheek, and thanked me for how clean we kept the yard during the whole process. This took me a bit by surprise (to say the least). She said she expected that having a major construction project next door was going to be a nightmare, but that the whole process was painless. Getting positive input from the neighbors is normal for us. But getting kissed on the cheek? Well, that was a first and I guess needs to be our new standard of success, right?
