The following article suggests that some American-made drywall may be exhibiting the same negative characteristics of Chinese drywall.  The article is interesting, but there are major questions as to the validity of this claim.  We did some research on this issue and found  a response letter from National Gypsum which explains their position on the article.

To us, as Chinese Drywall remediators, what this means is that it may be a good idea to test your replacement drywall for elemental sulfer, etc prior to installation.  If these claims are true, it would be a shame to go through all of the work and expense of removing the Chinese drywall from your home only to install new drywall that exhibits similar characteristics.  However, we would suggest more research needs to be done on this before the claim would justify the additional expense of testing samples of the new drywall.
